Half of ‘Lovers’, a set of paintings inspired by long distance romance. Painted 2022

Jackie Hartman is a legacy artist based in Houston, Texas.

Influenced by her late grandfather, Rudolph Navarro and working mostly with acrylic paint on canvas, she is consistent in her use of bold color, classifying the bulk of her work as expressionism. Her aim is to create works that give the viewer a new admiration for life and encourage an appreciation for existence itself. Their paintings invite you to look a little closer; bringing attention to the mundane, what is taken for granted and not so often admired.

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” -Edgar Degas

Expressionism seeks to depict, not objective reality but rather, the subjective emotions and responses that objects, events, and relationships invoke within a person.
